Discussion on PRBEM Data Analysis Procedure at COSPAR
Two time slots for discussion in PRBEM.1 on July 17.
1550-1610 - review of PRBEM data analysis procedure
1610-1630 - discussion of GSICS international collaborative effort
Who is attending? No remote participation as far as is known. Nagatsuma-san will discuss the possibility with core members of PRBEM.
Summary of results from review of PRBEM procedure - feedback provided during meeting:
First bullet: Ingmar - only have high fluxes in high energy channels when conditions are disturbed. This should be noted.
Third bullet: Ingmar - Need to identify a gold standard region as well as gold standard instrument - region in which instrument performs well. For example, avoid regions of significant contamination from protons.
Requests for PRBEM procedure:
Hugh - regarding conjunctions, also need to address GNSS-GNSS in the radiation belts where close conjunctions do not occur
Consider expanding scope to provide guidelines for cross-calibration of solar energetic particles within the heliosphere.
Nagatsuma-san will try to prepare draft of presentation before COSPAR before review.
Action Items
1. Work plan wording to define GSICS deliverables - ongoing
3. Data level definitions from institutions - Nagatsuma-san will remind
4. Compare different cross-calibration methods - ongoing, to be discussed at COSPAR
7. Decision on adoption of PRBEM procedure and common code base - like #4
